NBA Jam is a basketball video game developed and published by EA Canada. It was released on October 5, 2010, as the latest installment in the NBA Jam video game franchise. [1] Initially, the game was intended to be a full retail release for the Wii, with the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions available for via a coupon with the purchase of NBA Elite 11. However, on September 28, 2010, EA announced that Elite would be delayed. [4] On November 17, 2010, the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions were released as stand-alone titles. [5] The game has a distinct visual style, employing 3D models with high-resolution photographs for each player’s head. Several elements from the original games, such as the outrageous slam dunks and the ball catching fire, return. [6] [7] Mark Turmell, the creator of the original NBA Jam, is serving as a consultant. [8] The original NBA Jam announcer, Tim Kitzrow, returns, re-recording the lines from previous NBA Jam titles. As of April 7, 2010, all NBA rosters are current. The iOS version of the game is also available for OS X via the Mac App Store, making it the game’s only official computer version.
